Wolf by Wolf and Blood for Blood

Wolf by Wolf (Wolf by Wolf, #1)Wolf by Wolf
by Ryan Graudin
Grade 7 & up

The year is 1956 and the Axis powers have won World War II. Yael survived not only the Holocaust death camps but also medical experiments designed to make her more Aryan looking. After escaping, she joined the resistance and trained for years to complete her ultimate mission — to kill Adolf Hitler. In order to get close enough, though, she first has to win the Axis Tour motorcycle race from Germany to Japan, disguised as the winner from the previous year. The race is fraught with difficulties, including shifting alliances and threat of injury or worse. Can she win the race and complete her mission? The fate of the world rests on her shoulders. An adrenaline filled adventure from start to finish. Highly recommended to grades 7 & up.

Blood for Blood (Wolf By Wolf, #2)Blood for Blood

Grade 7 & up

This alternative history of World War II picks up right where Wolf by Wolf left off (so don’t read this review if you don’t want spoilers of the first one). Yael has failed in her assassination attempt of Adolf Hitler, and she and Luka Lowe are on the run through Tokyo. They (along with Felix Wolfe) are captured and sent back to Germany to pay for their crimes. They manage to escape somewhere in Eastern Europe and try to make their way back to Resistance Headquarters. Complicating matters further is the uprising that was triggered when Yael shot the fake Hitler on live TV, as well as the reappearance of an important person from Yael’s past. This adrenaline packed adventure will keep readers on the edge of their seats! A must read for fans of the first book (and don’t read this without having read Wolf by Wolf!). Highly recommend for grades 7 & up.
